Bernard was admitted to the Singapore bar as an advocate and solicitor in 2001.

He is an experienced Singapore litigator and dispute resolution practitioner, regularly appearing as counsel before courts and arbitral tribunals in Singapore on a wide range of contentious matters. These range from commercial disputes, such as individual and corporate insolvency actions (including cross border insolvency actions), to disputes involving specialist areas of law, such as admiralty and maritime, transportation, insurance (marine and non-marine), energy and international trade. Bernard also frequently participates in mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

Bernard’s shipping clients include P&I clubs, H&M underwriters, insurance brokers, shipowners and ship managers, chandlers and bunker suppliers; his other clients include multi-national companies such as commodity trading houses and global telecommunications service providers. Bernard can also count many local small and medium enterprises among his clients.

Bernard is a Fellow of The Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. He is a member of the Inquiry Panel constituted under the Legal Profession Act to inquire into professional complaints, as well as a committee member of the Maritime Law Association of Singapore. He is also a Notary Public and Commissioner for Oaths.

Bernard is fluent in English and Mandarin, both written and spoken.
